The grounds of Doonwood Estate feel as though they’ve been borrowed from a storybook rather than sculpted by any gardener’s hand. Instead of clipped hedges or regimented flowerbeds, you’ll find a rambling woodland that seems to whisper its own secrets. Sunlight filters through tall, time‑worn trees, scattering gold across mossy paths that twist and meander wherever they please. Follow them long enough and they’ll guide you to the river—a quiet ribbon of water that slips between the trees as if trying not to disturb them. Guests can wander down to its edge, dip a hand into the cool current, or simply linger and listen to the soft conversation between water and wood. It’s a landscape shaped by whimsy and wildness, where nature leads and you’re invited to follow.
